Q & A with Asi YokedPosted July 14, 2011 by admin. Filed under Blog

It is time to talk food philosophy with Reef’s Asi Yoked. He agreed to a brief Q & A, without the paparazzi.

What is your philosophy on cooking?

“Anyone can do it—it is not about what school you went to. If you are artistic, fearless, and have a talent, then you can cook.”

What do you like about cooking in the summer?

“I like the simplicity I can offer this time of year. I can use simple ingredients and be more creative while focusing on just a few dishes. The fruits and vegetables can be better too—the colors are more vibrant.”

What makes the Reef Burger unique?

“It is a fusion of a lot of different cuisines, Thai, French, Mediterranean and Japanese are thrown into the burger. The patty is a mixture of Neiman Ranch beef and Australian lamb and is served with Swiss gruyere cheese, sweet chili aioli, and onions that are slowly caramelized for four hours.”

What makes for a great dining experience?

“All of your senses are stimulated in the right way. Everything matters. You see, smell, hear, touch and taste. Before you even get your meal so many things happen to you. Everything leading up to the taste plays a part in a quality dining experience.”
